Welcome to the ‘new and improved’ Grattan Family web site. Things have changed a LOT in the last several months; so I thought it would be a good idea to reboot this web site and turn it into something that my whole family can enjoy.
Since this is the first entry on the Grattan Family web site, it is fitting to start things off with an announcement; as of 4/3/2010 I am engaged to my best friend! That’s right….my best friend. Angela and I met when we were 15 years old, dated for a while, and remained best friends for over 30 years. Although we’ve lost touch from time to time we always ended up back in touch with each other, even if it was just sporadic emails to talk about our lives, our marriages, our vacations, our families, etc.
At the end of 2008 my marriage to my ex-wife was at its end. I had been, up to that time, emailing Angela sporadically; both of us were married after all, and we just liked to hear what was new and exciting in each others lives. When I told her my marriage was falling apart she was very empathetic; that’s what best friends do…they’re there for you in your time of need. After I filed for divorce, and after several weeks of emailing Angela about what was going on, I asked her how her marriage was doing; I found out that her marriage was gasping its final breaths as well. It didn’t take long after that announcement for us to decide it would be a good idea to exchange phone numbers.
After several months, and after our marriages were decidedly over, we decided to see each other. Our first meeting was better than expected; we had instant chemistry. We spent several more months flying back and forth between Washington and California, spending as much time together as we possibly could. The long distance relationship was tough, however, and we started talking about moving in together. Four months after our reunion, Angela moved to California; one year to the day after our reunion, we got engaged. We are happy and very proud to announce that we will be married on 4/3/2011!
